“Make a pass at...”
<英語でdefinition!> Talk to a man or woman with the intention of dating them.
ここでの"pass"は、「色目」という意味です。"Make a pass"は「ナンパする」「言い寄る」というイディオムで、at以下に言い寄る対象を付け加えることができます。
ちなみに"pass"には、アメフトなど球技の際に「パスを出す」という際の「パス」の意味もあります。状況/文脈によっては、"make a pass"は、「（球技の最中に）パスを出す」という意味にもなります。
例文 I am sure that man with the dark blue shirt made a pass at me. He was constantly complementing my appearance.

「the-(e)st」という比較形の中でも「最上級」と呼ばれる表現を使って、このセンテンスでは「エベレスト」と「その他のすべての山」とを比較しています。
最上級にはさらに、他の物や人物との2者間での比較だけではなく、それ自身が時間の経過とともに変化する中で起こる、過去と現在の状況比較にも使用できます。
次の例文を見てください。
This is the busiest it has ever been.
（今までで一番混雑しています）
よく使われる「the-(e)st」を使って、“「現在」の場所・時間”が「普段（過去）」と比べて一番混雑しているという＜状況＞ を表しています。
さらに今回はその応用編も見ていきましょう。まずは次の例文を見てください。

最上級の表現に注意しながら、まずはトランスクリプトを見ないで音声だけを聞いてみましょう。
