お役立ち英語フレーズ
「Take it out on」
Meaning:To strongly persuade someone to not do something.
Example:I have tried to talk Wayne out of quitting his job at the bank. I think it would be a big mistake!

| Liam: | So, what do you make of the latest round of missile launches from North Korea? Is it a case of them just flexing their military might to remind the world that they are still a force to be reckoned with, or is it an attempt to force the U.S. and others back round the bargaining table? |
| Yuji: | I can’t say for sure. Then, who can? Their leadership can hardly be relied upon to provide transparency! But these tests are alarming. |
| Liam: | OK. Let me put you in the hot-seat. If you were Mr. Aso, how would you deal with the north? |
| Yuji: | In truth, I don’t think he has done much wrong. However, I feel that in the eyes of the north Japan is only a bit-part player in this “stand-off”. I fear that the north only respects those nations who are on at least an equal military footing as them, i.e. China and the U.S. |
| Liam: | But it’s Japan’s airspace that has been violated, therefore shouldn’t Japan try harder to make its voice heard? |
| Yuji: | Short of amending Article 9 of the constitution, which I believe would be vehemently opposed by the people, I don’t see how the government can do much more. |
| Liam: | In which case it might be worth trying a different tack by offering the Chinese something in the way of economic or trade deals in return for their more vocal condemnation of the north. |
| Yuji: | The North won’t listen. And the missiles will continue to fired at us with impunity. |
| Liam: | Don’t underestimate the leverage the Chinese have over the North Koreans. Without Chinese assistance, North Korea would have already imploded. |
| Yuji: | But what you advocate is demeaning to us as a nation. It makes us look impotent. If only article 9 were no longer an issue then we could fight fire with fire. |
| Liam: | Let’s just hope that the amending of article 9 is not forced upon us by the north going a step too far. |
