| Manager: | I’d like to thank you for what you and your team have done this week. And I trust that all our staff offered their full cooperation? |
| Consultant: | Yes, they were all very helpful. With their assistance, we’ve been able to pinpoint the reasons behind your recent alarming slump in sales and falling market share. Now, if I may, I’d like to outline our main proposals to give you a taste of what you will hear in my presentation later today. |
| Manager: | Go ahead. I’m pressed for time, however. |
| Consultant: | In that case, I shall be brief. Firstly, we would like to propose that you change the company name to something more commercial. We feel that the existing name is too long and therefore not easy to remember. How about changing it to something with a more international flavour to be more appealing to your foreign markets? |
| Manager: | Hmm. Interesting. So you really think that a name change will help to Invigorate overseas sales? |
| Consultant: | I believe it has worked for some of your competitors. Next, we suggest scheduling regular departmental meetings in order to keep staff abreast of any new developments. Why don’t you hold one on a weekly basis? That would certainly help to bridge the information gap that the majority of staff believe exists between them and management. |
| Manager: | And what’s the next main proposal? Sorry I have to hurry you, I’ve got a disgruntled client that requires my attention. |
| Consultant: | I see. The final major proposal is we recommend that the designs for your products be brought into the 21st century. Put simply, your current lines are old-fashioned. What if you were to replace your Design Manager with, and there’s no easy way of saying this, someone younger that’s more in tune with the latest trends? |
| Manager: | Yes, perhaps Peter has been here for too long. And that department needs a good shake-up - something I’ve long pushed for. Thank you for the heads up. See you at the presentation. |
