会話
医師と心臓発作を起こして病院に搬送された患者の息子さんとの会話です。
患者の容態と家族への連絡対応に注意しながら、まずはトランスクリプトを見ないで音声だけを聞き、内容を理解しましょう。
次にディクテーションの練習として、音声を聞きながら会話文を書き取っていきましょう。これを数回繰り返し、最後にトランスクリプトを見て、埋められなかった箇所をチェックします。
| Patient’s son: | So, doctor, is it true what the nurse says that my father has had a suspected heart attack? |
| Doctor: | Yes, this afternoon while out shopping, your father experienced a serious heart attack. Apparently, it was on the main escalator of the shopping mall. He let out a sharp yelp, and then slumped on the steps unconscious. A store security guard tried to resuscitate him and found that he had no pulse, and it’s the paramedics arriving quickly on the scene whose swift actions prevented it from being fatal. |
| Patient’s son: | Oh no! Oh no! Is he going to pull through? Look, my mum doesn’t know yet! She’ll be frantic with worry wondering where he is. I’ve got to call her. Oh why oh why? |

| Doctor: | It shouldn’t take longer than a couple of hours. As we speak he’s being put under general anaesthetic and being prepared. Is there someone you can ask to comfort her? |
| Patient’s son: | Yes. My aunt. Aunt Carol. She can....Doctor..., please be straight with me. What are his chances? |
| Doctor: | My team and I have carried out several similar operations so I can assure you that everything that can be done to save your father will be. However, his high blood pressure and general cardiovascular condition mean that his heart might not survive it. |
