「From bad to worse」
<英語でdefinition!> Becoming more and more unacceptable.
“bad（悪い）状態からworse（もっと悪い）状態へ”。つまりこの表現は、「もともと悪い状況/状態にあったものがさらに悪化すること」を言います。
例文 Ayumi’s English grades have gone from bad to worse - 50% last semester, to only 31% this semester.

| Alice: | No, I just gave up smoking and started exercising more. |
| Kyle: | You quit smoking too?! Wow! Most people say they put on weight if they give up smoking. |
| Alice: | That's why I took up exercising. |
| Kyle: | Gee wiz, maybe I should start going to the gym. I'd like to lose a few pounds myself. |
| Alice: | But you eat pretty healthy food, don't you? |
| Kyle: | Not really. I mean, I don't eat a lot of fatty food, but I've never been on a diet or anything. |
| Alice: | Oh, don't bother. I've tried all sorts of diets, but I always put on weight. |
| Kyle: | (laugh) What about those high protein low carbohydrate diets? They're pretty popular. |
| Alice: | I've got a friend who's a doctor, and he told me that it's not good to cut carbs out of your diet. He told me to just eat a traditional Japanese diet; you know, plenty of rice, fish, veges, miso, that sort of thing. |
| Kyle: | Yeah. Japanese food is really good for your health. That's why Japanese people have the longest life expectancy in the world. |
| Alice: | And Japanese food tastes so good too! |
