「It’s no big deal」
<英語でdefinition!> Nothing to be concerned about.
この表現は日常もよく使われますので覚えていると便利です。「大したことじゃない」という意味です。
例文:I broke my watch last night, but it’s no big deal, because I get my company bonus next week so I can easily buy a new one.
（昨晩、時計を壊しちゃったけど、全く大したことじゃないよ。だって、来週には会社からボーナスをもらえて、新しい時計をすぐに買うことができるからね。）

単語・表現
相手にアドバイスや提案をするとき、英語にはいくつかの表現方法があります。アドバイスや提案しようとすることに絶対の自信があるときは直接表現を使います。また、それが本当に良いことかどうかは分からないけれど「(とりあえず)～してみたら？」という言い方をする場合には間接表現を使います。日本語でも同じですね。
以下の表現を直接表現と間接表現に分けてみましょう。

| Fabio: | So, Rie, you’ve been studying English now for about six months. Do you feel that you’ve improved? |
| Rie: | Not much. It’s so hard! I was hoping you could give me some advice. I really want to be a fluent speaker someday. |
| Fabio: | To become fluent, you should try to study overseas. It worked for me! If you cannot do that, then you ought to try to make friends with native English speakers. You have got to use English daily to improve your fluency. |
| Rie: | I don’t know how to meet native speakers. All my friends and work colleagues are Japanese. |
| Fabio: | Well, I know you enjoy drinking, so have you thought about going to any of the bars in Roppongi? |
| Rie: | I can’t do that! I’m shy when meeting new people. |
| Fabio: | Ok. Have you considered using an internet chat room? |
| Rie: | Hmm. I’ll think about it. But that won’t help me to improve my poor pronunciation. |
| Fabio: | For that, you might want to get satellite TV so you can watch foreign news programmes. Or why don’t you listen to the study CDs on the train on the way to and from work? |
| Rie: | But I like to sleep on the train. |
| Fabio: | Well, if you want to realise your dream of being a fluent English speaker, you must make more effort, or it will never happen! |
