| Takeyuki: | How was your night out with your old university friend last Saturday? |
| Yusuke: | We both had a great time. It was my first time to see him in donkey’s years, and our lives have changed so much since we graduated, so we had loads to talk about. |
| Takeyuki: | So, did you show him a good time in Tokyo? |
| Yusuke: | Yeah, first, we went and pigged out at an Italian restaurant. I’m glad he paid the bill. It was over 10,000 yen! After that, we moved on to a few bars in Roppongi. I had forgotten that he drinks like a fish. He was so drunk he couldn’t walk. I had to give him a piggyback to the station! Not much fun when it is raining cats and dogs, I can tell you. I was soaking wet! |
| Takeyuki: | Sounds very similar to my Saturday night. I was out with friends until 6 Sunday morning. When I finally got home, my wife went ape. She screamed and shouted at me for a full half hour! |
| Yusuke: | Ha ha! But you often go out on big drinking sessions, don’t you? Why was she angry this time? |
| Takeyuki: | I had totally forgotten that all her family were coming over our place to celebrate her grandfather’s 80th birthday on Sunday afternoon. I had a terrible hangover all day. My head was in agony. To explain my condition, I told everyone that because the air-conditioner was broken, I hardly slept at all that night. |
| Yusuke: | Did you get away with it? |
| Takeyuki: | No such luck. My mother-in-law smelt a rat when I refused the offer of a glass of wine at dinner, so I was forced to admit to her my previous night’s actions. |
| Yusuke: | Bet that didn’t go down well. |
| Takeyuki: | You are so right! I think I am still in the doghouse with her. She refused to speak to me, or even look at me for the rest of the evening. |
