「Take it out on」
「人に～しないように強く説得する」という意味です。
前回ご紹介した“Talk me into doing”は “～することを強く説得する”という意味でした。今回は「into doing」ではなく、「out of doing」ですので前回とは逆の意味、“「～しないように」強く説得する”となります。
Meaning:To strongly persuade someone to not do something.
Example:I have tried to talk Wayne out of quitting his job at the bank. I think it would be a big mistake!

会話
以下の会話文を聞いて、「肯定」・「否定」・「中間」の意味を聞き分けてみましょう。日本語では遠まわしな言い方が好まれますが、英語の場合は、肯定・否定・もしくは中間の言い回しを使い、自分の意見をハッキリと述べることが普通です。
| Ben: | The weather isn’t so hot now, so shall we go on a picnic this weekend? |
| Miwako: | That’s a great idea! But what food and drink shall we buy? |
| Ben: | How about some sandwiches? I love ham and cheese sandwiches. |
| Miwako: | Sorry. I can’t stand ham. It makes me sick. I don’t mind just cheese in the sandwiches. But not English cheese. I don’t like it that much. The taste is too strong. |
| Ben: | Don’t worry. I don’t like it either. Also, shall we make a salad? |
| Miwako: | Yes. Please let me make potato salad. I adore that! I eat it nearly everyday for lunch at work. |
| Ben: | That’s fine, but please don’t put pepper in it. I don’t like it at all! |
| Miwako: | Ok. I won’t forget. |
| Ben: | And what drinks shall we get? How about some beer? |
| Miwako: | Beer is ok, but I don’t drink it often. How about some white wine? I like French white wine so much these days. |
| Ben: | I know. You drank a whole bottle in an hour last week! |
