「From bad to worse」
<英語でdefinition!> Becoming more and more unacceptable.
“bad（悪い）状態からworse（もっと悪い）状態へ”。つまりこの表現は、「もともと悪い状況/状態にあったものがさらに悪化すること」を言います。
例文 Ayumi’s English grades have gone from bad to worse - 50% last semester, to only 31% this semester.

| Barry: | Go on. I’m listening. |
| Ami: | This continued for a while, and eventually he came over to me and we began chatting. He’s really funny. Charlie is his name. Very smart, too. We chatted for hours, until the party ended. |
| Barry | Did you stay at your friend’s new place that night? |
| Ami: | Actually, I left together with Charlie and ended up getting a taxi back to his place in Hiroo. I wasn’t going to go at first, but he managed to twist my arm. |
| Barry | That taxi ride must’ve cost an arm and a leg! He must’ve really liked you ha ha! |
| Ami: | Well, we spent all of Sunday together too. |
| Barry | But what did your current boyfriend make of all this? |
| Ami: | My ex-boyfriend, you mean! I had been wanting to give him the elbow for ages but never had the stomach to tell him. But meeting Charlie gave me the courage to do it. |
