「From bad to worse」
<英語でdefinition!> Becoming more and more unacceptable.
“bad（悪い）状態からworse（もっと悪い）状態へ”。つまりこの表現は、「もともと悪い状況/状態にあったものがさらに悪化すること」を言います。
例文 Ayumi’s English grades have gone from bad to worse - 50% last semester, to only 31% this semester.

| Emma: | Good. Next, are the doors connecting the living room and dining room removable? I’d like to have a big, open space. |
| Nick: | I think so, but you might want to ask a carpenter for an expert opinion. |
| Emma: | I see. Another thing, is the water that comes out of the tap drinkable? I’ve heard that the water here doesn’t taste too good. |
| Nick: | Don’t worry. It’s very drinkable. I live close by, and I drink water from the tap all the time! |
| Emma: | Glad to hear it! I don’t want to waste money buying lots of bottled water. And on the subject of shops, are they walkable from here? |
| Nick: | The main shopping area of the town is about a 20 minute walk from here. |
| Emma: | Excellent! Walking is about the only exercise I get these days. Oh, one last question, as a resident of this town, what are the people like, generally? |
| Nick: | Well, my wife and I have been living here for over 10 years, and we have found most to be very likable. It’s a small town, and it’s easy to get to know people and make friends. I’m sure you’ll be very happy here. |
| Emma: | Thanks for answering my questions. Let me go away and think about it. I’ll call you tomorrow morning with my decision. |
