“Make a pass at...”
<英語でdefinition!> Talk to a man or woman with the intention of dating them.
ここでの"pass"は、「色目」という意味です。"Make a pass"は「ナンパする」「言い寄る」というイディオムで、at以下に言い寄る対象を付け加えることができます。
ちなみに"pass"には、アメフトなど球技の際に「パスを出す」という際の「パス」の意味もあります。状況/文脈によっては、"make a pass"は、「（球技の最中に）パスを出す」という意味にもなります。
例文 I am sure that man with the dark blue shirt made a pass at me. He was constantly complementing my appearance.

| Nick: | Don’t worry. It’s very drinkable. I live close by, and I drink water from the tap all the time! |
| Emma: | Glad to hear it! I don’t want to waste money buying lots of bottled water. And on the subject of shops, are they walkable from here? |
| Nick: | The main shopping area of the town is about a 20 minute walk from here. |
| Emma: | Excellent! Walking is about the only exercise I get these days. Oh, one last question, as a resident of this town, what are the people like, generally? |
| Nick: | Well, my wife and I have been living here for over 10 years, and we have found most to be very likable. It’s a small town, and it’s easy to get to know people and make friends. I’m sure you’ll be very happy here. |
| Emma: | Thanks for answering my questions. Let me go away and think about it. I’ll call you tomorrow morning with my decision. |
