“Make a pass at...”
<英語でdefinition!> Talk to a man or woman with the intention of dating them.
ここでの"pass"は、「色目」という意味です。"Make a pass"は「ナンパする」「言い寄る」というイディオムで、at以下に言い寄る対象を付け加えることができます。
ちなみに"pass"には、アメフトなど球技の際に「パスを出す」という際の「パス」の意味もあります。状況/文脈によっては、"make a pass"は、「（球技の最中に）パスを出す」という意味にもなります。
例文 I am sure that man with the dark blue shirt made a pass at me. He was constantly complementing my appearance.

| Paul: | Furthermore, I’ve been coordinating with the Finance department far more smoothly. This has helped to cut down on all the little mistakes that beset us last year. |
| Jeff: | That was a communications problem. Has it been solved? |
| Paul: | Well, I’ve been busy this last month writing a programme which will enable messages sent between our department and Finance to flash up immediately on the screen – appearing on top of everything else. |
| Jeff: | Sounds good to me. Well, other management and I have been keeping a close eye on you, and we’ve concluded that you are finally getting to grips with the job, and are showing real signs that you could go far with us here. |
| Paul: | Yes, I’ve been finding the work here increasingly rewarding, and the extra responsibilities you’ve been entrusting me with have encouraged me to work smarter, as well as harder. |
| Jeff: | Keep up the good work, and you’ll be looked on favourably if a more senior position becomes vacant. Management concurs that you are deserving of the highest pay rise we can award under our pay scale system – 10%. And once again, thank you for all your efforts. |
