「Take it out on」
「人に～しないように強く説得する」という意味です。
前回ご紹介した“Talk me into doing”は “～することを強く説得する”という意味でした。今回は「into doing」ではなく、「out of doing」ですので前回とは逆の意味、“「～しないように」強く説得する”となります。
Meaning:To strongly persuade someone to not do something.
Example:I have tried to talk Wayne out of quitting his job at the bank. I think it would be a big mistake!

動詞の中には、前置詞が後に続くことによって、意味が変化するものがあります。このようにして２語から成り立つ動詞を、“句動詞‐Phrasal Verbs”と呼びます。

以下の会話にはいくつかの句動詞が含まれています。注意して聞き取り、それぞれの意味を考えて見ましょう。
| Kenji: | Keith, do you know how to make Shepherds Pie? |
| Keith: | Yes. I often make it. It’s easy. |
| Kenji: | OK. What are the ingredients? |
| Keith: | You need minced beef, potato, butter, stock, onion, salt and pepper. |
| Kenji: | And how do you make it? |
| Keith: | First, turn on the oven, and turn it up to 180 degrees, then peel and chop up the potatoes and boil for 20 minutes. |
| Kenji: | OK. And then? |
| Keith: | Next, cut up the onion into very small pieces. Then, put the butter in a frying pan and put on a low heat. |
| Kenji: | Do you fry the mince beef and onion? |
| Keith: | That’s right. Fry them until the mince is no longer pink. Then take it out and put it in a glass baking dish. |
| Kenji: | What about the potato? |
| Keith: | After 20 minutes, make mashed potato and put it on the mince. Before that though, pour the stock into the mince and add in a little salt and pepper. |
| Kenji: | Then put it in the oven? |
| Keith: | Yes, put metal foil over the dish and bake for 30 - 40 minutes. |
| Kenji: | Easy! I think I can do that. |
